Beryl Karney was formerly the famous ballerina Beryl Goldwyn, She trained at the Royal Ballet School in London and took part in the opening performance of the Sleeping Beauty at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in 1946 with Margot Fonteyn.

In 1949 she joined the Ballet Rambert and rose to become Prima Ballerina. She was personally coached by Dame Marie Rambert throughout her eleven years with the Company. She performed at the Sadler's Wells Theatre in London and toured throughout the UK and to the United States, Germany, France, Italy and Lebanon.  Her ballet rôles included Façade, Dark Elegies, Judgement of Paris, Gala Performance, Les Sylphides, Swan Lake, Nutcracker/

Her most celebrated rôle was as Giselle where her interpretation was likened to that of Markova. (See reviews from "The Times".)

As well as classical ballet, Beryl has trained in Egyptian classical belly dance and  Flamenco at the Christina Heeren Flamenco Foundation.  She has also appeared extensively on television.

Most recently she has been playing a Gypsy in the Royal Ballet production of Don Quixote at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and the Queen Mother in Cinderella for the Twin Cities Ballet in Illinois.

Beryl is also a painter having studied in London with Maggie Hambling.
